Seeker FAQs (for Patients)

Q:
I don't know my ID?
A:
Your User/Seeker ID is the same as your membership or certificate number provided by your Benefits Administrator, with a password of your date-of-birth as MMDDYYYY. If you did not receive a User/Seeker ID, please ask your Benefits Administrator for your Employer ID so that you may register.
Q:
What is my Employer ID?
A:
If you are registering as a new Seeker, you will need to know your employer ID in order to gain access. Please contact your Benefits Administrator to obtain this information.
Q:
What is my password?
A:
If you were pre-registered, your password is your date-of-birth as MMDDYYYY. For example, if your birthday is January 22, 1956, your password is 01221956. If your birthday is October 20, 1960, your password is 10201960.
Q:
How do I submit a request for Bids?
A:
While logged in, look for a link or button that says "Create Request". There are multiple locations for this button, usually at the top of the page, or select the "My Requests" blue tab and use the link on the far right.
Q:
Can my spouse and children submit requests for Bids?
A:
Yes. Your family shares one ID for logging in, but your spouse and children may use this service, too. When making a request, there is a question that asks "Is this request for:" which allows you to select "you," "your child," "your spouse," and even "your parent." "You" is the member who is registered, which will be the family member that has the benefit being provided. If a husband has this benefit through an employer, and his wife needs a PAP, select "your spouse" to fill out information for her on this request so that the doctors will see she is a female.
Q:
How long do I have to wait for Bids?
A:
Allow at least 3 days. If your Request is for something major, like surgery, they may need to get anesthesia or lab and prosthetic prices and will get back to you with a Bid in a few days. New doctors and hospitals join all the time, make sure you check your profile every day because some Bidders will set their bids to expire in as little as 24 hours.
Q:
How many Bids will I get?
A:
There are thousands of doctors on MediBid, but the number of Bids you will receive depends on the following - where you are, what you need, and when you need it. You will get an email alert every time you receive a Bid.
Q:
How do I get a doctor's phone number?
A:
Once you click on the "Accept" link to the far right of the Bid, the Bidder will be sent an email with your contact information and they will reach out to you to arrange your visit. If you would like to call them, select "View Profile", once you have accepted a Bid, and you will now see their name, phone number, license, and email.
Q:
Can I find an elective surgery, like a facelift?
A:
Yes, of course! MediBid is a great place to get upfront pricing on any surgery or medical procedure, including elective ones.
Q:
I'm not getting any Bids on my Request. What's wrong?
A:
First, please check your profile under the "My Profile" tab. We have found that problems with Zip codes can lead to zero Bids. If your zip code has a typo and is invalid, your request will not go out properly. Next, take a look at your Request under the "My Requests" tab. If you have only written one sentence or less, you may not have provided enough information for a physician to give you a Bid. Add to your description, special requests, or even upload images to help the doctors understand what you need.
Q:
Does MediBid protect my privacy?
A:
Yes! MediBid.com is HIPAA compliant. Your information is not shared outside of our domain. Unlike other sites, your data is not shared with advertisers, and it's only after you accept a Bid that a medical specialist sees your identity and vice versa.
Q:
What if I'm on a budget?
A:
Be up front with your spending limit or payment needs in your request. Many medical specialists on MediBid will offer payment plans. And because every Bid given on MediBid is custom, physicians will see your notes before they give you their price. There may be options available to fit every budget.
Q:
Can I find a primary care physician on this site?
A:
Absolutely. And we encourage you to do so.
Q:
Do you do any background checks on the doctors and medical facilities?
A:
MediBid does not underwrite or make any claims as to the level of proficiency of the doctors and medical facilities listed on this site, not any more or less than the medical associations do. But we do require their medical license information, which we provide to you after you accept a Bid. Seekers can refer to the Medical Board of the State/Country in which the doctor practices for more information. You can run an Internet search for their state and the words "medical license lookup."
